HOW TO: "scene" makeup & hair

So I am in extreme need of a haircut. I used to have my best friend do it but now that she is a working Mommy she was a lot busier. So I ended up going to a guy in Providence who I liked but now I have a dilemma. I am in New York and need a new stylist.

You probably are thinking "New York?! There are tons of great stylists!" and you are right but I have this huge issue with stylists. I hate when you ask for a trim and they decide to get CREATIVE and take off like 6 inches. And I know what you probably are thinking now, "Maybe you needed that much taken off." Nope I didn't it was in healthy condition I just had a girl who wanted to get innovative and may I add that my hair ended up lookin' like shit!

So I am afraid of the initial appointment/result with new stylists. So I am trying to find a stylist around here and hopefully I find one that understands what I am looking for. I am just fond of my hair being long and I don't want to cut it short. I don't mind it being styled. I mean cmon I had pink and blue in my hair. Conservative looks aren't what I always go for. I like hair that is simple, crazy, scene, beachy, straight, wavy, etc. I like it all.

One thing my hair can't adapt to is teasing. I wish it could look like this. It falls flat or becomes a huge knot! I dunno if I am missing something but I look at vids like this with girls teasing the hell out of their hair and I am left perplexed.

Make Your Own Shoes

Origins Oh How I Love You!

So I am a huge Lover of Origins Skincare products. Every Christmas my ex-boyfriend buys me there Christmas packages. Yes I did say Ex-Boyfriend. What can I say? The Exes love me! No but really we are just best friends and he always knows that I am happy with my Origins products.

So my usual routine includes Checks and Balances Frothy face wash, A Perfect World White Tea Skin Guardian, A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturizer with White Tea, Well Off Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, Modern Friction Nature's Gentle Dermabrasion, and lastly the newest addition is Pure Cream Rinseable Cleanser You Can Also Tissue Off.

I Have Combination Skin. I use this Checks and Balances face wash because it doesn't dry my face out but also helps control my oily T-zone. Love it.

I then use this White Tea Skin Guardian prior to applying the Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturizer. I Usually use this duo at night to prevent my skin from getting oily throughout the long day.
Now for the days that my skin is acting up I resort to Modern Friction gentle dermabrasion. It helps exfoliate my skin without drying it out.

I tend to wear mascara everyday. I would have to say that mascara is one of my makeup essentials other than bronzer. So it is important for me to take it off without taking my eyelashes with it! So I use the Well Off makeup remover. It works wonders! Love it.

But my newest addition called Pure Cream had me a bit perplexed. ( I love the word Perplexed btw) This cleanser said that it was rinseable or able to be tissued off. Very strange I thought! But I figured lets try it. Hopefully it won't make my skin feel oily/greasy. But surprisingly I Loved It. It made my face feel clean yet not dry squeaky clean, if that makes sense. It felt clean yet smooth. I think I may have a new fave for winter when my skin gets on the drier side of things.

What are your skin regimens? What products do you love? Are they expensive or affordable? Please Do Tell! =)

CityNight

The other night my cousin had visited from Boston, and we met up and want out in the city. Good to be around family and someone who likes the same things as me. We went for sushi and drinks and a bit of walking around but unfortunately the time flew before I had to bring her to the bus again. Nonetheless it was a good night.
The back of the guy's shirt while I was waiting for her to get on the bus. LoL What can I say? I was bored.

On the way back to SoHo I was walking and saw this kick-ass creepy mannequin in a storefront window. Tell me this thing isn't cool in a dark and strange sort of way?!
Anyways the ride home consisted of me taking photos of the skyline and manipulating the camera so it made different streaks of light. I think I might touch them up and frame them in a sequence for a gray wall I have. They look like messed up mistakes but I like them =)

Waiting to drive over the bridge into Queens.
The Moon Racing By.
 The Empire State Building
The City Skyline while crossing the bridge. (it looks like brushstrokes)

The next day my dad and I went running errands for his food truck he will be opening in the city. We were walking and we see this little squirrel munching on a tomato, it was actually quite funny because he was rolling it around.

I wish I had video but I didn't think of it until he already ran off. I disturbed his meal so he hit the pavement. Gotta love Urban Squirrels.

Well I am off to apply more vinyls to my Dad's food truck. The first one was a $200 dollar disaster that we messed up royally! The second was a $400 success because someone else did it. But let's hope we can do the last one on our own without a hitch.

Dresses to Impress

So I am a lover of dresses! I love throwing a dress on and not having to worry about whether or not a pair of pants goes well with a top that I have chosen. So for those of you who are unfamiliar with ModCloth I suggest you take a look at their site. I love their huge selection of dresses for a variation of prices. Although it seems everything I pick naturally is at the higher end of the price range, bummer.

Sorry for the pic overload, but here it goes!

DIYnot

I love DIY projects. The whole Do It Yourself idea really appeals to me. I love when someone says "where did you get that?!" and I can answer with "I made it!" It really provides me with a feeling of accomplishment!

I love browsing blogs, websites, and magazines for these great How-to projects. Today I came across an awesome DIY project for an ottoman at DesignSponge. This blog is an amazing place for ideas, inspiration, and great photos. Check it out.

They have this tutorial for an awesome ottoman that I am longing to create. I may need some assistance from my Dad but I think it would be a fun project for him and I to do because we are trying to redo his apartment. So this is a great addition to the living room furniture.
I want to make this ottoman with a different fabric, perhaps a hounds tooth or a Burberry like plaid. What do you think? What fabric would you choose? Anyways Here are a few more photos of the steps involved:
Check out more photos and details/instructions at the link above. I'd love to know if anyone gives this or any other DIY project from DesignSponge. Let me know! Or if you know of any other great sites for DIY projects!

Bathtub Beauty

Sorry for the lack of updates everyone! I was camping! Well what I call "pretend camping". Nothing hardcore, because I had access to a shower and bathroom =) But I still got to cook over a fire and sleep in a tent which is hardcore enough for me. But anyways I am currently visiting a friend and was looking online to check my Etsy store and I came across the coolest bathtub loveseat! Check this unique piece of furniture out!

Just a boring Tuesday...

Today was low key. Walked for a bit. Did my first day of my new workout routine, Turbo Fire. May I just say it kicked my ass!

So today while walking past a leveled and deserted lot I saw something bright red. At first I assumed it was just trash among the gravel and debris but then I noticed it was a lonely tomato. A sad and lonely tomato growing out of the rubble. It is weird how things can flourish and survive in less favorable environments and conditions. Its quite beautiful when you think about it.

Well when life gives you tomatoes make tomato sauce. So I am off to make some dinner! A more interesting entry tomorrow! Promise =)

Movie Inspired Engagement Shoot

For those of you fond of Nicholas Sparks books or just his movies, may appreciate this. This photo shoot was inspired by the movie The Notebook. I saw this on GreenWeddingShoes.com and thought wow what a great idea! It isn't the first time I have seen weddings and photo shoots inspired by a movie. Awhile ago I posted a Twilight inspired wedding. But this is a whole different feel. I love the nostalgia of this shoot. Check out the pictures below.

She really has an uncanny resemblance to Rachel McAdams, right?

I have been lucky...

Things have been pretty good as of yet. I have been lucky with my glasses on Etsy as I mentioned before. I truly love getting feedback because it pushes me to create more and more. There isn't a limit to what I can do when I have people motivating me to create more! For those who are fans I appreciate them.

I want to thank ChiTownFashionista for mentioning me in her blog as well! Check her blog out!

Logo Design

So I am in urgent need of a reasonably priced graphic designer to help with my vision of a logo for my fathers food truck. He has a truck that he will be parking in SoHo NY but we need a logo for the side of the truck. Anyone know of any good graphic designers?

Turbo Fire has entered the building!

So I received my Turbo Fire in the mail and I have to say that I am ecstatic!! Well I am ecstatic that it arrived but absolutely bummed out that I cannot start the program yet! =(

Unfortunately I have a herniated disc in my neck and every so often it gives me trouble and nerve pain. I need to do physical therapy but to be honest I have put it off again and again. So right now I am just waiting for my neck to get better and then I can start this program! I am sooo excited after watching people's reviews on YouTube and such.

I want to buy this fitness book to track my fitness progress. I can order the one specific for the program or this one.

I am really feeling motivated to lose the excess weight I have packed on this past year.

Lights Cameras Action

As a child most memories were caught on polaroids. My mom had like 10 different Polaroid cameras. As a kid I used to love getting my hands on them and taking pictures of everything! Mom would get mad because I would waste film on pictures of my stuffed animals and things!

I still have about 3 Polaroid cameras from years ago. They are all in really good condition as well. But lately they have the Fuji Instax cameras that offer instant film photos. This is not anything too new.
and for those who love lomography, there is lomography film for these cameras.

But I also came across Polaroid Instant Film Cameras for preorder at Polaroid's website. They are offered in 3 different colors including blue, black, and red.
So if you are looking to purchase an instant camera check out the links above or you can browse some cool cameras at Lomography.com

They have the fuji instant cameras as well as Diana F+, Holga, etc.
