On the road to healthy

Lately I have been striving to be healthier and more aware of what I am consuming and putting into my body. My weight has fluctuated a lot in recent years and at my heaviest I was 189 lbs! But with some diet changes and exercise I was able to drop 30 pounds but then I got into a relationship and gained some "relationship" weight. So now it's time to get back on track and luckily the bf is doing it too! Making it really motivating for me.

I've been doing TurboFire again and loving it. It's insane how much a clean diet contributes to weight loss.

Joseph's flat breads have been my new best friends! Low calories and completely versatile. I have been making pizzas with them. Normally I make homemade tomato sauce with fresh plum tomatoes but last night I cheated and used jarred sauce. And topped it with spinach, banana peppers, artichoke hearts, turkey pepperoni (for the boyfriends) and green bell peppers.
Before....
And after!!

Healthy girl is a happy girl!!

What a long hiatus?!

It has been ages since I last updated this, but now that I have much more free time it will become something I take more seriously. I recently moved into a new apartment, moved out of New York, and entered a great relationship. I never thought I'd ever have a "grown up" relationship but it seems I now am in one, and we actually live together! All of those who know me could not believe it at all! I still wake up some days and look over and think "You're still here?!" Haha but really he is great and he is my best friend.

But enough about him, I'm back and will be updating this much more frequently!

Cute Change Purses

Every now and again I come across great little gift ideas for my friends. Sometimes I wish there were more holidays in the year for more excuses to buy people presents!

I came across these little Rebecca Minkoff change purses that I absolutely adore and figured Id share them:

These adorable purses cost $55 and can be found on the Bloomingdales website

Christmas Gift Makeover

So I'm sure we all have received an article of clothing or a fashion accessory that well, is lacking the "fashion" part but sometimes it just needs a little creative attention.

I received a purse from someone over the age of 60 and it was a faux leather bag that I actually wasn't to displeased to open because I saw its potential. My dad's girlfriend on the other hand was embarrassed by her mothers gift lol.

I knew I had plenty of trim from my sunglass making days so I decided to bust out my bag of tricks and I got to work!

Pyramid studs, check. Pliers, check. Chain, check. Purse in need of a makeover, CHECK!

I sadly didn't take a pic of it before but you can imagine by the picture of it after the studding process began.

There is also a picture of a final product which I am quite pleased with. I took a bag that looked appropriate for a 60 year old to a funky bag that's a bit edgy and age appropriate for me.

On a Weight Loss Journey

Over the years I have put weight on, lost some, put some back on and so on and so forth. Now I am trying to lose and get to a place that is healthy and that makes me happy and comfortable. I am not looking to be a size 2 or anything unrealistic. In fact size really doesn't matter as long as I am toned and fit.

Maybe I will post my progress as I go on. Right now I am focusing on eating healthy as well as working out. I love the workout program I am doing. It is called TurboFire and I thought it was going to be dreadful but its not! Don't get me wrong there are days i'm swearing at the television and calling the instructor a "Crazy Bitch" but I feel completely accomplished at the end of it. So from time to time I'll post some inspirational photos and mantras to keep me going.

I guess you could call this a New Years Resolution but id like to think of it as my New Life Resolution.

DIY I wanna try...

Tonight I was getting crafty and making some jewelry and such and then I decided to see if I could find any inspiration online for doing something to some old Chuck Taylors of mine and I came across this tutorial! It is awesome and I have a black fur vest that I want to pair with these sneaks. Love it. I have the fur but I just need the Black converse. Lucky for me my friends work there and give me discounts on the sneakers. So I will be buying them and making these bad boys this weekend. Here is what they look like and there is a link to the tutorial for those interested in giving this a shot!

Logo Love

So I have been working on getting my new company off the ground. I have been fortunate enough to have been given a foundation to build my new business on. My dad is an owner of food trucks in Manhattan and I am now starting my own. I couldn't be more excited. However it has been a tedious journey and it isn't even over yet. There is still so much to be done because funding exceeded my initial estimates.

I am going to be running a dessert food truck that is a bit different than the ordinary cupcake truck on the market. I wanted to offer cupcakes but I didn't want to limit myself solely to them. I also want to steer away from the conventional cupcake flavors because I am not a conventional girl and this is not a conventional dessert truck. Its easier to come up with a "cute and frilly" concept. It is far too common and predictable. Neither of which I wanted my company to be. I want to offer desserts with flavor profiles influenced from all different cuisines. I also want to help support locally grown produce.

My vision for this truck is "edgy". I want a truck that stands out because it is unlike others. I want it to be influenced visually by all things that I appreciate. Be it music, fashion, art, or anything else inspiring. I wanted my logo to be edgy and fun. I am extremely happy with it and figured I would share it with you.
